Instagram has introduced a new feature allowing you to control read receipts for direct messages.

This setting enables users to toggle read receipts "on or off" for direct messages at the account level. When enabled, senders can see when you have read their messages. If disabled, senders will not get read confirmations.

To access this setting:

1. Go to your profile and tap the three line menu in the top right

2. Select "Settings"

3. Choose "Privacy"

4. Toggle "Message Read Receipts" on or off

We believe providing more control over privacy settings empowers users. This read receipt update is to align with users' messaging preferences for greater transparency.
