Instagram has introduced a new safety feature to help ensure users make informed decisions about who they choose to follow.
When a user attempts to follow an account they are not connected with on the platform, Instagram will now prompt them to "double check" the profile before completing the follow action.
This gives users an opportunity to review things like the account name, profile photo and number of posts before deciding to connect their profile with another.
The measure aims to prevent accidental or unwanted followers, as well as potential fake or suspicious accounts from gaining followers without proper vetting.
It prioritizes informed consent in profile connections on the visually-driven social media platform.
